Hilary Rosen says stay at home moms "don't work a day in their lives". Really? Here are my thoughts.

Misti Rosebrook Wonderfully beautiful pic!!
Love this idea! Toys that are not picked up go in the ransom box and they have to pick a chore to complete to earn it back! A great lesson in personal responsibility.

Allyson Kellner Oh my goodness. I haven't even read the article but it sure stirs up a lot of emotion for me. We homeschool and tried 'traditional' math books for our K and 1st graders. After daily tears with the 1st grader, I switched to hands on math. She's finally getting it!
Kristi Chittam This is just like us!! My now 6th grader gets so frustrated with us because we don't know how to teach him the way his teacher does. They are doing too many extra steps to get the right answer. I don't want to confuse him by doing less steps so I just stop trying to help.
Sheltering is Not a Bad Word! I defend my homeschooling, no TV parenting from a severe critic.

Have we forgotten how to be a mommy? Take a look at these parenting practices (bedtimes, allowances, chores) that were basic at all income levels in the 1970s are rarely done at all today.

Lisa Zahn SAHM's need more support and respect, and that's why it matters
Sheila Gregoire I guess what I figure is even if it's more stressful, we're not doing it to make us happy; we're doing it because we're called ot it--and because we think it's the right thing. It's not always about feelings!
Christie Martin I agree, Sheila. Life is hard. Our choices change the kind of hard we face. Being a mom of any sort is hard. Of course it is! Working away from home or in the home, it's a vocation. A pathway to heaven!
Nora Tchobanian-Beylerian I believ most stay home moms are doing it for their children but she needs needs lots of encouragement & support because its so easy for some to break down & not be able to do it right.
Allison Weldon Of course we need support, but it's not like we chose to do it because we thought it would be relaxing. Or maybe we did, but then we came home from the hospital. lol
