Primarily Yours - We love it when nothing matches but everything goes, like in this room, which mixes primary colors in a variety of shades and patterns.

Pretty Pulls - If you're not sure the whole sunshine-yellow walls thing is for you, try a low-commitment way to toy with color. These multicolored drawer pulls and bright kid art add some cheer to the walls and dresser -- and can easily be undone if you change your mind. Instant Sunshine - Take a classic nursery color like yellow and dial up the intensity. Pair it with a look-at-me hot pink and you've got a room that will make you smile on even your most sleep-deprived mornings.

Feeling Blue? - Blue's definitely not just for boys. Pick a beautifully vibrant shade -- like this azure, then add pink accents and sweet accessories to girl it up.

Tickled Pink - You're having a girl, and you do love pink. Here's a way to make pink unexpected: Pair it with a rusty orange for a slightly retro, totally chic feel. Discover more kids room decorating and organizing tips and ideas @ kidsroomdecoratin...

Color Block - Can't decide on a shade? Pick a few of your favorites and create a color-block wall mural. How-to: Pencil in your grid with a level, then section off squares with tape. Be sure to press the edges of the tape with your nails to make sure the paint doesn't blend. Extra added bonus: You'll basically never need to paint again, since whatever bedding and accessories you use in the future are bound to match.

Jungle safari - one of my all time favorite theme ideas for decorating a baby's room.

Turn right at a lightweight, super soft blanket that's great for lounging around on the couch or in bed. Turn left at the playful design that allows the blanket to double as an interactive play space. You have arrived at your destination.

A set of 4 oversize swaddling blankets that are perfect for wrapping up baby. Plus, the more you wash and dry them, the softer they get, thanks to a unique 100% cotton muslin fabric.

You'd have to be a schlemiel not to appreciate the softness of this chenille blanket. Thick, light and fluffy all in one. Great for your newborn or as a baby gift idea,

Make a BIG frame - Take your picture frames up a notch by adhering a couple of them to a mat board or foam-core board covered in patterned paper. Treat your creation just like a really big scrapbook page and embellish it with large flowers, brads, and bits of fabric and paper. Finish it with wood letters painted to match your scheme. Sweet Baby Mobile - Make this sweet little mobile from large chipboard shapes. After adhering papers to both sides of the shapes, machine-stitch around the edges. Punch holes at the tops and tie bows. Hang from the large butterfly with rickrack. Be sure to hang the mobile safely out of the little one's reach.

Boy-Girl Style - A backdrop of yellow stripes plays host to two sides of this shared space -- each sporting a coordinating hue of either blue or pink. A two-tone rug underfoot also unites these two colors, making a perfect room for a boy and a girl.

Built-In Dresser - To make every inch count, give ready-to-assemble cubes a custom fit in the closet by trimming them with quarter round molding and topping with a piece of painted plywood. As an alternative, you could just slide them in, anchoring them to one another and to the back wall.

Double-Hung Rods - If you don't have the ideal height to stack two levels of hanging clothes so they'd still be within reach, so fake it by staggering the rods like we did. The top one is set back so clothes hang down behind the front row.

Ditch the Door - Sliding in modular storage cubes, painting the closet wall, and hanging cuter-than-cute baby clothes makes this closet too cool to hide behind a closed door. Color-coordinated photo boxes keep open shelving shipshape. If you can't keep your kiddo's closet this neat, use a tension rod and a fabric curtain to block the view.

Pretty Pegboard - A grade up from the usual perforated board, this modular decorator pegboard comes in several colors and has catchall accessories to corral clutter as well as display keepsakes.

Catchall Corner - A canvas diaper caddy and wall storage unit keeps necessities within arm's reach, and a changing dresser stows other essentials out of sight. With three drawers and shelving behind its door, it can hide away blankets, diapers, and even that bulky vaporizer.

Friendly Jungle Mural - Pale green walls show instant spark when decorated with a leafy mural border and sets of friendly jungle creatures. White unites the various furnishings and makes a crisp statement against the wall color.

Pink and Green - Gorgeous pink-and-green toile wallpaper sets the tone for this whimsical baby nursery. The colors and patterns have enough interest to outlast babyhood and grow along with the fortunate young girl who grows up in this space.

Baby, Oh Baby! - Nurseries sure have come a long way from pastels and gauzy fabrics. This fun nursery embraces the bolder side of a classic pink-and-yellow palette. The furnishings are adaptable pieces that play multiple roles. The crib, for example, turns into a daybed and later a chair. In this phase, baskets, bins, and open shelves keep diapers and other items easily accessible. The crib gets a starring role in the center of the room.

Baby Gone Mod - Avoiding babyish pastels and choosing bright, stimulating colors creates an unthemed place that can change as the tiny resident grows into his or her own interests. An easy-to-replicate colorful grid wall like this sets off the overhead plywood art hung from the ceiling.

Changing Spaces - Remove the diaper changing pad from a conventional changing table and what do you have? A useless piece of furniture destined for the basement. Remove the changing pad from this dresser and you're left with a functional furnishing. Don't feel compelled to buy baby-specific furniture when you can adapt existing items. A slim mirror below the top shelf will occupy baby while the diaper is being changed. A guard rail could easily be added for an extra measure of safety. The changing pad covering is made from fabric designed for patio furniture, so it's stain-resistant and durable -- great for wiping up little mishaps that don't warrant a trip through the washing machine.

Color Connection - There's no fear of "here today, gone tomorrow" in this room, thanks in part to the homeowner's color bravado. Sure, it's blue and pink. But instead of baby-boy blue, it's turquoise. And rather than little-girl pink, there's bold magenta -- used sparingly but with impact. Sans the stereotypical pastels, the room will easily transition to a cheerful room for an older child.

Clothes Rack - Corral pint-size clothing in cabinets, which are the perfect height and width for these items. Changing the cabinet hardware also makes these cabinets bedroom-worthy.

Baby Zone - Installing a bank of cabinets in unused crawl space provides oodles of storage. Cabinets with pullout baskets, open shelves, and see-through fronts mean toys are accessible to kids, but clothes, shoes, and other items can be hidden behind closed doors. Opting for several coordinating small rugs can be more economical than purchasing a large area rug, and a fun way to create different play zones for active siblings.

Quick Change - Who would guess a kitchen island could double as a changing table? The height is just right, and this one offers ample storage for diapers and other necessities. The casters lock in place or allow the table to be moved for more play space.

With its nurturing nature theme and nifty storage nooks, this nursery is the type of sanctuary many parents dream of for a new child. Gentle colors soften the room's clean-cut modern style. Rugs, pillows, and artwork sport animal and botanical motifs, and a painted tree climbs the wall.

Supplies That Mean Business - Repurpose office storage pieces for baby nursery supplies. Here, a tiered desktop caddy holds washcloths, lotions, soaps, and other nursery essentials.

Climbing the Walls - Baby nursery walls provide lots of unused storage space. Turn display shelves into open storage by adding hooks or decorative knobs below the shelf.

Grow-with-Me Storage - Use an armoire to serve multiple functions as the child grows. It stores baby clothes in the nursery, becomes an art center during elementary school, and turns into a computer desk for high school. At each stage, the doors keep clutter nicely tucked away.

There is nothing that can’t be personalized, from clocks to growth charts, bedding and artwork to furniture. Every child loves to see their name in their room, because it reinforces that this is their space and makes them feel special. When children are sharing a room, you can hang hand painted wooden letters spelling out their names

This boy’s mother wanted to incorporate items from generations past into this nursery. The teddy bears on the shelf are custom-made from her grandfather’s favorite sweater, and there is an old photo of the grandfather with his twin brother as young boys.

A nice way to use greens, browns and cream in a baby's room.

This celebrity baby nursery was designed for Lisa and Buddy Valastro. They didn't want to know the baby's gender before birth; the gender neutral nursery is a compromise of the mother's desire to have an elegant, traditional nursery without a theme and the father's desire for a jungle safari nursery theme with animals.

There's no doubt about it 'Simone' is quite happy in this lovely baby nursery. I love the personalized wall letters and the beautiful chandelier that goes so well with the dark wood furniture. Adorable baby nursery decor ideas compliments of Pottery Barn Kids.
