Boys Room Ideas

Old-School Charm - Muted colors are trendy staples for kids' rooms. Give your guy something a little vintage by using softer shades with brown undertones, such as mossy greens and rusty reds. Pages from antique boys' magazines are framed as artwork to keep with the vintage look. This room is kept kid-friendly with fun fabrics, such as those used for the Roman shades and pillows, and plenty of toys.

Skateboard as a Shelf - Purchase a pair of L-brackets (available at hardware stores) that are a little more than half as long as the skateboard's width. Screw the brackets into two studs in a wall, about 16 inches apart. Remove the trucks and the wheels from the skateboard—or leave them on if they aren't grungy and you want to hide the supports and place the board atop the brackets.

Red Revisited - A solid-color wall is a great backdrop for a child's room. Here, a stars-and-stripes theme dominates, yet it could have easily been black racing stripes or yellow stars. Allow for a child's creativity by providing blackboards, personalized pillows, and tackboards.

Rugby Style - Start with a great color on the walls, add lots of textures in furnishings, then drop in cool materials and accessories for a room that will keep a young boy happy through his teen years. Rugby-shirt stripes and madras were the inspiration for this colorful space. Discover more kids room decorating and organizing tips and ideas @ kidsroomdecoratin...
