To get rid of pesky fruit flies, fill a small glass with 1/2" apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, and mix well. Flies will be drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Diane A just vinegar works well to but HAVE to cover the throw away jar with saran wrap and rubber down seal with rubberbands..poke TINY holes to get in, but not get OUT.
jane i find that press-n-seal works best for this. stays taut on the jar rim without needing the rubberbands.
Binet i use vinegar only, too. i stockpile any small glass jars with metal lids, and just poke holes in the lids.
Sharon Amor I use a cone placed in a jar with a little cider vinegar or wine. Tape the paper cone to the jar sides. The flies can get in but they can't get out.

Aluminum foil covers the paint pan..toss after painting. Also use aluminum foil to cover rollers overnight instead of washing paint down the drain.

Colleen H. This is actually a pretty good idea! I usually buy those pan liners when I am feeling super lazy. The only thing I would worry about here is tearing the foil, because then my plans to be lazy would be ruined. That would make me mad.
Iona Meyer We've done this for years with no problem. Plastic grocery bags work too.
