KEEPSAKE BOX: Tibor Gergely, The Chief Is On His Way $18.00 Tibor Gergely, Hungarian Jewish artist probably most famous for his wonderful illustrations for Golden Books, is my inspiration for a series of Keepsake Boxes. I use tattered old books, and yes, some of them are still being published after all these years,. I make the pages into the covers of the boxes. I’m fascinated by the power and beauty of the Gergely illustrations at the moment. Each box is hand made in Vermont of Vermont pine. More about Gergely at seesaw.typepad.co...

Now at Small Equals, new from VisuaLingual: Edible Flower Seed Bombs. Five gumball-sized balls are packed into each 3 x 4 1/2-inch pouch, ready for gift-giving. The artists at VisuaLingual, a small and wonderful company in Ohio, screenprint each pouch with the design. Inside each pouch is the full list of the seeds included. When you’ve used up the seed bombs, reuse the pouch or frame it! These edible flower seed bombs have been formulated with a mixture of yummy and easy-to-grow plants: nasturtium, calendula and marigold. Seed bombs can be planted in the Spring, Summer and early Fall — just throw and grow! The ball will break up on impact with the ground, and rain will further disintegrate it. The red clay and worm castings in the seed bombs enrich the soil around the seeds, helping your plants grow. You can purchase this item during the Fall and Winter months and plant indoors instead. Available online at Small Equals. $7.00
