"I've got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don't want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I'd rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before 'thin'." - JK Rowling

Lonna Connolly I stand for a healthy lifestyle so that one can truly enjoy their life. God didn't make us fat we make ourselves fat. We don't have to all be 110 and perfect no...healthy and happy yes...

Annalie Jordan Hi, Lonna! I don't know how familiar you are with the body positive and fat acceptance movements in general or HAES (Health At Every Size) in particular, so forgive me if I over-explain. HAES in particular advocates for enjoyable exercise and a diet rich in variety and nutrients and not basing health assessment on weight, which a lot of studies are finding is not a great indicator of health. They are also finding we don't have as much control over our weight as we've been told. Some people are predisposed for a varity of reasons to be heavier or, yes, fatter. And even if we have become fat through our own actions, they are realizing that losing weight and keeping it off is extremely rare... and may not be beneficial, while such major weight fluctuations can be very detrimental. Even with all of this, there are also people in the body positive and fat acceptance movements, including me, that believe health is not a mandate. No one is required to be healthy to be a good person or happy with hisself or herself or worthwhile. While it is possible to be fat and healthy (or skinny and ...

Gabrielle Sterling This is why I love J.K. Rowling!

Jackie Rybeck My daughter has little ones and they are very health conscious...they are teaching the kids a perfect balance of eating good foods (almost) all of the time with special treats now and then...the kids have never heard the word fat or skinny...it's all about eating foods that are good for them in order to be healthy, strong and happy! They will not obscess about food if you dont...

Debbie Moore Don't hate on the scale! I'm a girl that needs to keep in check! It's a tool. :). Happy weighing!

Lisa Coultas When my 3 year old daughter stepped on my bathroom scale and declared, "I Know what this is for!" I had a sharp intake of breath awaiting the next comment and quickly exhaled when she proudly stated, "It's for seeing how big your feet are getting!" I loved it- especially at my age- my feet aren't getting any bigger!!
