Tiffany Wess-Roland So very true!!

Spend a casual, artful lunch hour at the OJAC! Join the discussion at 12 p.m., on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Scenes that most travelers in the state speed past daily take center stage in the oil panoramas on view in the upper galleries of the 1877 old jail building. Bacon is inspired by the light and color of the West Texas landscape as well as the timelessness of the rural scene. Catherine Deitchman, art journalist, best explains Bacon's "emotionally poignant paintings" as a reminder that "oftentimes the journey is more important - and more intriguing - than the destination."

First show I co-curated - 6 degrees of separation. 49 pieces from the collection linked by the artists personal choices both in life and how they created their art.

Happy Lunar New Year (January 23). It gives us an opportunity (or excuse) to renew our New Year resolutions that we set for January 1 and have already broken. :-) While the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is best known, Lunar New Year is celebrated as Seollal in Korea and Tet in Vietnam.

Inspiration: Sean Scully painting. Project: Make pigments from fruit and veggies like beets, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries etc. using a bunsen burner... once cool, use a paint brush to create paintings just like the modern masters.
