"Allegory of the Night"-Material: Sardonyx Shell, 15K gold tested . Size: 2 3/8" by 6/8", only cameo is 1 7/8" by 6/8". Date and Origin: Circa 1860 Italy, mounting is English.
This is certainly not your typical cameo. Inspired by an early 19th-century painting by John Severn, it depicts Ariel, the sprite in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Carved in shell and set in gold, the brooch doesn’t seem to be signed, but the workmanship is of incredible quality. Look at those wings!

A rare sterling silver inkwell by Tiffany and Company with hammered surface and applied gold washed maple leaves. The cap is lined with cork and unscrews to open back on a hinge. There are four bugs applied to the body. A large bug on the lid and two smaller bugs on the sides. There is also a small bug on a leaf. Dated July 31st 1882. Lined with a glass liner.
