Weather: Fill the cup with water. Put shaving cream on top for a cloud. Explain that when clouds get really heavy with water, it rains! Then put blue food coloring on top of the cloud, and watch it rain.

Rebekah Eyler I gave this to my son this year for his 5th birthday. It said," U R 5, we(heart) U." inside- "THIS MUCH,"

Dawn Jones I did this last summer with 5 boys...they had a blast, even the 11 year old. I recommend doing it outside, they can't help but get carried away!
Susan Mannecke we did this using a straw instead with great results.
Rebekah Eyler I use to do this with my preschoolers. I am not sure who had the most fun.;)
LOVE the site Children Inspire Design and all the good they are creating in our world!

Jen Day This also works on elbow noodles- my kids have played, scooped and measured these for years!
Fill your ice cube trays with water, adding a drop of food coloring to each section. When frozen, these can be popped out and put in bath water. They’ll have fun “chasing” them around in the tub and trying to grab them before they melt.

I adore this idea from Nic Howard. When you travel, leave a visual countdown (with candy) for your kids. When the candy is gone, mom is home!

Chris H Love it! Does it work?
For Thanksgiving: Each person submits a thing they are grateful for. Type them up and roll into the dinner rolls. It is fun to find them all - even more fun to guess who they belonged to.

Outdoor Chalkboard: Get a 4 x 8 plywood sheet and mix a chalkboard-colored outdoor paint with unsanded tile grout: 1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps. 2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry. 3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust. 4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge.

This is my favorite "roadtrip" snack. Celery always tastes better in the car and PB satisfies! I usually pack them separate, but this is pretty dang clever.
