An Izakaya for cats. They drink sake and plan our destruction.

One day I'd like to open a sushi bar in Paris. - Shangri-La Hotel, Paris

We take it a step further and use Japanese charcoal. Grilled meat deliciousness!

Since it's Friday... another image from the series by Adeline Tan for Standing Sushi Bar. This one is at our Marina Bay Financial Centre location. Theme of "Salarymen" (since that's everyone upstairs!)

A classic gin martini and sashimi would go well together.

A Sake Champagne Mojito. Putting this on the list of things to quench the thirst with.

Suntory whisky and assorted sushi. The stronger-flavored fish go really well with whisky.

If Zooey Deschanel were Japanese, I think she'd dress like this. A "mori" girl.

"The Story of Tanuki anuki is a Japanese raccoon dog, but also the stuff of legend. According to Shinto folklore Tanuki is a kami, a spirit creature with powers to shift shapes at will in pursuit of women, wine, a free meal and mischief in any order they were to be found. Often Tanuki is pictured looking inebriated, confused and holding an empty sake flask and a counterfeit promissory note or a leaf - Tanuki were famous for having the ability to trick sake shop owners."

Shonen Knife singing "Sushi Bar" live in Vancouver. Maybe one day I'll set this song on repeat in the restaurant. "I wanna go to a sushi bar. I wanna go with you."

Yowza, $1 sake, $5 beers, and $2 salmon sashimi? Crr-azy! At our 8 Queen Street location every Monday night. Is it Monday yet?

If they could make a sequel to Before Sunrise (Before Sunset), they should do one for Lost in Translation. Whisper in my ear, Bill!

It's as if they turned a Sesame Street character into a sushi roll!

Reminds me of one of my favorite ways of drinking sake. You stick a grilled fish (or fin of pufferfish) into hot sake. Wait for the fish to marinate the sake and then drink. Great in cold weather.

Perhaps the next branch will take inspiration from this Japanese restaurant. Perhaps not.

I suppose since snakes are used in sexy photoshoots, the octopus could be the snake of the ocean world (let's forget eels).

I love sashimi but my tastebuds and sense of decorum are halted by what looks to be a sashimi sandwich. But who knows, I haven't tried it.

We've got this at the Marina Bay restaurant. Decided to name it the Roppongi Set since it's our "high-end" dinner set.

Looks like a super crunchy roll! Tempura on the inside, roe on the outside. Perhaps something to experiment with at the restaurant.
