Shirley Roberts I worked there when this was taken. The Astronauts flew in range to take this picture. It is a real picture.

Profile picture of Taylor Sharpe

Taylor Sharpe For real Shirley?? That's Awesome. Were they in a chopper?

Profile picture of Cynthia Bailey

Cynthia Bailey According to Richard Silvera himself, this is indeed Photoshopped: http://500px.com/photo/5431139 (see comments on right)

Profile picture of Shirley Roberts

Shirley Roberts Cynthia, I only drove by it during roll out (all day venture) wrote the launch books, you name it. Astronauts come in (stand-by's as well) flying thier own jets. This was not a launch. It was a roll out. The shuttle is more than a 10 story building. Just saying. Not too much interested in a debate.

Lucky strike! Eight bolts of lightning hit the iconic Bay Bridge in San Francisco in a spectacular once in a lifetime moment captured by photographer Phil McGrew

Profile picture of Amy Dutton

Amy Dutton NPR posted this and it said he took the photograph from his apartment window by chance. Even as a photographer, to be able to see something like that must have been very humbling.

Profile picture of Janet King

Janet King we were in sf & could hear lotsa rumbles....didn't know it was so massive !

Profile picture of Sam Smallwood

Sam Smallwood Just a little tip, this wasn't taken in the way that "I'm going to sit here and wait until I see the lightning and therefore quickly release the shutter", this was a long exposure shot where the camera shutter was open for a length of time, and within that time frame, the lightning happened 8 different times but was still recorded in the one shot. this is evident by the headlights of the cars on the bridge, they are all blurred into one streak of light

Polaroids of Afghanis Who've Never Seen a Photograph The Wakhan corridor located in the northeastern corner of Afghanistan, is a less-traveled region by foreigners. French photographers Fabrice Nadjari and Cedric Houin (aka Varial) decided to journey off to the remote district because of their growing fascination with the country, further heightened by a New York Times article about the area.

Time Lapse Portraits by Nerhol The numerous portraits are actually different, photographed over a period of three minutes as the subject tried to sit motionless, the idea being that it’s impossible to ever truly be still as our center of gravity shifts and our muscles are tense. The portraits are actually a layered lime-lapse representing several minutes in the subjects life and then cut like an onion to show slices of time, similar to the trunk of a tree.

Clouds, Smoke and Portals Torn into Photographs Raleigh-based artist and landscape architect Scott Hazard uses carefully layered photographs to create delicately torn concentric shapes symbolizing plumes of smoke, clouds, and mysterious portals in walls. Hazard has also used adaptations of the same technique to create a number of fantastic typographic works he calls Text Constructs.
