Day #28 Alcoholics, Magnesium, Vegans, and B12 Alcoholics frequently have magnesium (magnum gun) deficiencies and pure vegans eventually will deplete stores of B12. B12 deficiency causes anemia, gastritis, and demyelination of DC/LCSP tracts, and SCT leading to ataxic gait, impaired position/vibration sense. Mg deficiency causes weakness, muscle cramps, hypocalcemic tetany.

They are listed from most common to least as well as best prognosis to least. Medullary (central) carcinomas are found in calcitonin producing C cells of the thyroid.

In MEN 2B individuals are at risk for pheochromocytomas (pharaoh), medullary carcinomas (med. car) of the thyroid, intestinal ganglioneuromias (gang), and a marfanoid (giant) habitus.

Causes Meningitis in Children Under 3 yo Mengingitis is cause by N. meningitidis, E. coli, and S. pneumoniae. Enteroviruses are the most common in viral meningitis. Head CT to rule out increased inter cranial pressure and LP are warranted.
