Denise George Your mortgage is the cheapest money you'll ever borrow. If you plan to do this, I'd at least suggest you don't put EVERY extra penny toward the house. If you have an emergency, lose your job, etc, you'll need some savings. It won't help you to have tons of equity in your house and no job - you won't be able to get a loan without a job and if you lose your house, you lose all that extra money you paid. But, if you make some balance and create an emergency fund, cash is worth more than equity.
Jeanette Merrill Actually student loans are cheaper than mortgages. If you read the post, it seems like the couple have used some really good financial decisions that other people can learn from--that's the point.
Denise George I read the post. And I suggested adding an emergency fund for sound financial planning. I'm more comfortable putting extra money into an emergency fund than putting all of it towards a house that has a low, tax deductible interest rate, but it's a personal decision. Possibly some people can do both.

Seriously clever! A headlamp around a gallon of water = ambient light for your tent and a great night lamp when the power is out.

"Scratches on discs happen. After one of our favorite DVDs started to skip after receiving a few too many scratches we started to look for a solution to salvage it. Sure there are DVD scratch removal devices that you can buy, but why waste money when there is a solution to be found right in our own homes? Using toothpaste, a banana, a rag and window cleaner we will show you how to remove scratches from a DVD and with any luck the unplayable will become playable." Joelle Alcaidinho

"Prepare pancake mix as stated on the box. Then pour all the batter into a large ziploc bag and freeze! Once you are ready to use it, take it out of the freezer to thaw, snip off a corner of the bag, and you have quick & mess free pancake mix! It's a great way to use up a few cups of milk before it expires!"

Clever!! What a great idea to hang a picture!! Put the toothpaste where you will want the nail to go. Then, press the picture to the wall where you want to hang it so that the toothpaste from the back of your frame sticks to the wall. Why didn't I think of this? Just a great idea!!

Corn Kerneler--you can easily remove corn kernels from the cob in one quick motion. Just place the Kerneler at the narrow end of the cob and push straight down. Stainless steel blades quickly and easily remove the kernels, which then collect neatly in the basin of the Kerneler.
