Marlon Braccia better and easier is putting the silver in a container or sink with a sheet of aluminum foil under it. Sprinkle baking soda on top. Pour hot or boiling water on top until the silver is submerged and walk away. Come back later an all the tarnish migrated to the foil and your sliver is clean with no polishing!
I need to do this for those paperback picture books - they are everywhere!
