Craig Blietz' new group of paintings resonate with strength, clarity, and passion. The result of numerous studies in gouache and pencil, each of these works feels important. Careful underpainting and expert glazing result in a rich surface and expressive background. The subjects seem to possess an almost magical posture and vigor yet are very much of this world.
