a visual conversation between me and CooperHouse (incredible graphic and computer design!!); feel free to "eavesdrop" and snag what appeals to you. :)
Probably not something quite as thick as the back piece, but a double-layered card to show off a shape is also do-able from this end. :)
I'm not necessarily saying the matchbook/tear-out concept is what I love here (although it would be a great way to include multiple cards in wedding orders, as brides give them to friends and event planners like crazy), but I do like the mini-cards on Moo.com just for something different (and that could double as an item tag).

I'd love to see the inside of these cards, but a wax seal was one of the other ideas for packaging (along with an embosser or cut-out/paper punch)

It wouldn't be the coffee-table book (and I don't know that this will work for a regular business card just because of bulk and several of the events in which I'm participating require "regular"/single cards), but this could be a neat way to do the look book/catalog/annual update you mentioned back in our brainstorming phone calls.
I'm looking at ordering a custom paper punch for a couple of projects ... a really great cut-out for business cards could be added to the list if we went that direction.
would LOVE to see a bloom that pops up ... know these are expensive cards that aren't in my price range for now, but maybe there's a "cheat" to make something similar or more affordable but really stand out?
Hmmm ... if there were enough white space around the edge to allow for a little room, I could cut just about any shape on my cutting machine ... like a bloom or petal. :D Can't use it for much else I do these days, so it's an interesting thought. :D
graphical, black and white, clear typography, elegant, distinctive ... am I on the right track?

CooperHouse I like this a lot!
I'm going to lean towards art nouveau over art deco every time ... fair warning. :)

CooperHouse Noted -- these are pretty packages!
just the envelope and the background of the invite - the illustrated bloom is what grabbed me.
texture, color, botanical details, shape to envelope ... think this could be adapted to poppy?

I like this one - color, "poetry" in the flower, and a nice balance between the ornate bloom and clean lines and white space.
ahhh ... not so fussy! :) doesn't convey the "beauty and poetry" of the flowers, but I like it.
floral motif down the left side ... wonder what the oriental poppy photo would look like when interpreted for pattern/motif or illustration
the letterpress dogwood convey the beauty of natural dogwood without being a photo

lace cutouts aside - I love the font; elegant but not too formal, legible without strain.
Fetching pins…
thecrimsonpoppy *I'd say this is a favorite.
thecrimsonpoppy And I can totally see incorporating this into those art nouveau soap packages elsewhere on this board.
