The Beach Boys - That's Why God Made the Radio (Lyric Video) - The Beach Boys are the quintessential American band, and it's nice that Brian Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine put aside their legal disputes to reunite for the occasion of their 50th anniversary.

BBC Hard Talk - an interview with the late Robin Gibb, part 1. I preferred the pre-Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees

STYLE PAGE "You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears?" James asked from the stage of Seattle's Paramount Theatre. "Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he ain't my president. But I tell you that woman [Beyonce] he had singing for him, singing my song ? she's going to get her ass whupped." My kind of woman.

What Cat Stevens became: an advocate for murder. If Salman Rushdie were ever murdered, I'd name Cat Stevens as an accomplice.

The Brit Invasion: She's Not There by The Zombies

Paul Revere (yes, that's his real name) and the Raiders wore colonial-style costumes and were a fixture of 60s TV. Mark Lindsay (2nd from left), with his ponytail, was a teen idol.

The 1978 album Live Stiffs Live featured Larry Wallis, Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Wreckless Eric, and the late Ian Dury. I won't get into Stiff Records's slogan! :-)

Nick Lowe is best known for his 80s hits "Cruel to be Kind" and "I Knew the Bride." Although he's from England, his music is purely American.

I'm no fan of The Rolling Stones, but I had to throw in this uncharacteristic photo of Keith Richards and Bill Wyman going bowling.

Cream featured Ginger Baker (drums), Jack Bruce (bass), and Eric Clapton (no intro needed). Jack Bruce could be my favorite rock vocalist.

Killer Queen: could Freddie Mercury be the most gifted rock star ever?

The B-52s broke with their novelty songs "Rock Lobster" and "Planet Clare"

Elvis Costello: Everyday he writes the book.

The Beatles: the opening riffs of I Wanna Hold Your Hand always fill me with happiness and nostalgia.

The Lovin' Spoonful: quite possibly my favorite 60s US band

The Kinks: quite possibly my favorite Brit Invasion band

This 1981 concert film featured Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Bodysnatchers, The Beat and Bad Manners

Midnight Oil: this Aussie band's song lyrics were socially and politically conscious.

Martha and the Muffins: the name of this Toronto-based band is the antithesis of the names of the punk bands that were its contemporaries. It was fronted not just by one Martha, but two Marthas (Martha Johnson and Martha Ladly)

Talking Heads: Psycho Killer

The (English) Beat: Rankin' Full Stop. 80s Two Tone ska and pop music group
