Why is it that the media gives Michelle Obama a pass on her wardrobe expenses when it tore into Sarah Palin for her $150K wardrobe budget?

Dr. Scholl's Original Wood Exercise Sandal - sometimes footwear define a place in time. I had a pair 40 years ago, and I'm going to buy a pair now.
Kuba Cloth Bag Made of vintage Kuba cloth from the D.R. Congo, African designer Emmanual Kosongo reconstructs this bold, abstract-designed cloth into original bags. The range of golden yellow to light rust colors is achieved through the natural dyeing of the raffia fiber with local plants. The fiber is then handwoven and the pattern is hand sewn in an applique method onto the cloth. Wooden beads form the straps. This bag is lined and snaps closed. $50.00

Proof that she's the product of her hairdresser, makeup artist, stylists, fashion designers (hardly the sample size), trainer, etc.

"Molas are made by members of the Kuna Indian culture, who live in parts of a mainland strip in northwestern Colombia and on the islands of San Blas in Panama . . . made with reverse-applique needlework. Two or more layers of cloth are stitched together so that the design shows through openings in the layers . . . Molas have their origin in body painting (tattoos) that was transfered to cloth. They represent their cosmogonic thought, a graphic vision of a world full of color . . . "

The Twilight gown - it strains the imagination that a 19-year-old from Forks, WA would walk down the aisle in a Carolina Herrera gown. The gown probably wouldn't be safe for a wedding at a Mormon temple (Stephenie Meyer is a practicing Mormon). While I have my criticisms about the gown, it's still a refreshing change of pace from the strapless ball gowns that seem to be in vogue.

Channeling my inner Kate Middleton. Good pantyhose. I swear that the same perv-cum-pantyhose fetishist will pick this up on Twitter.

No, Pippa's not the focus. It's Carole Middleton. I love the seaming on her jacket.
I missed Project Runway, but I loved the clothes designed by Anya Ayoung Chee that were featured in Marie Claire.

If Earth Shoes defined my high school years, Frye boots defined the years soon after I graduated from college. I was so nostalgic for my Frye boots that I bought the identical style (Jane 14L) 25 years later.

When I was in high school, all I wanted was a pair of Earth Shoes. My mother thought that they were ugly.

HilLesha Anderson-O'Nan I love Michelle Obama's wardrobe! Personally, I think Sarah Palin had poor taste in her clothing choices, especially for it to be so expensive! Sarah could learn a thing or two from this classy lady! ;)
STYLE PAGE Hi HiLesha I too like Michelle Obama's wardrobe, but she is the product of her stylist, hairdresser, makeup artist, trainer, and fashion designers (those she's hardly a sample size). I agree, Sarah Palin's wardrobe was "pedestrian." The issue at hand is the budget allocated to their wardrobes: why is it that the media tore into Sarah Palin for her $150K wardrobe budget while giving a pass to the FLOTUS? I think that it goes beyond the taste in fashion (or what their stylists dictate).
