Moon phases with Oreos via The Mailbox. Transform students into moon gazers by giving each small group of students ten chocolate sandwich cookies (two extra in case of breakage). Have the group leave one cookie intact to represent the new moon and then carefully remove seven of the cookie tops. Using plastic knives, group members scrape away portions of the cream filling to represent each moon phase. Then they glue the phases in order on black paper and label them with a white pencil.
