Tonya Ricucci it's beautiful, isn't it. so easy to do with shoestrings, although I wonder what the width of the strings was in the original

Log Cabin Quilt: Barn Raising Variation On display at the American Folk Art Museum's Lincoln Square Branch (which only has a few rooms, but has free admission). Mary Jane Smith made this (with her sister) in anticipation of her marriage, then lost her fiance to pneumonia the night before the wedding, then died herself just three years later, still unmarried. The quilt was never used.

"God's Eye" String Quilt, ca 1900, 70x79. Sort of a log cabin because it is pieced onto a foundation (machine and hand pieced). The black, solids and plaids are challis, henrietta, and poplins and other wool combinations, as is the backing.

Nontraditional construction technique: not quite string pieced and not quite log cabin style of foundation piecing. block size is 19" for the big diamond shape.
