The Mortal Instruments series - A little turned off by the covers, but @Becky Z says they're good and the series has 4.5/5 stars on Amazon.

Becky Z Once you'll read it, you'll understand the covers and you'll like them...you have to see that character shirtless to see the runes carved into his body...just read...you'll understand. lol And when I say these are good, I mean they are Harry Potter good

Alex Dk I just started the prequel! So far I like it.

Profile picture of Becky Z

Becky Z I didn't love the prequels...this series is better

Profile picture of Alex Dk

Alex Dk Oh good to know! I haven't read the main series yet.

Sarah E. {Fantastical Sharing} I just finished the 5th and feel like a complete book snob because I didn't like them as much as everyone did.

The Wednesday Sisters - This sounds a little like Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons. Recommended by @Jill Anderson. Beach read!

first in Divergent trilogy. What's with all the dystopian books lately? Predictions? Worries? Backlash from Hunger Games? Or have there always been this many?

Sarah E. {Fantastical Sharing} It's a really good genre :) It's been around for a long time though.

Vanderbilt Wife I just read Midwives this past year, but it's been out for 20 years, right? 1984, Fahrenheit 451 ... yep, lots of history of dystopian universes. It just seems like there are TONS all of a sudden.

Another "Hunger Games Hangover" book?

Currently reading this - Dark Water by Laura McNeal. YA book about a romance between an avocado farmer's niece and one of his migrant workers. One reviewer called it a Romeo and Juliet where nature is the culprit.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. Looks like a combo of The Passage, Midwives, and The Hunger Games. Gotta admit, I'm trying to find the next big series.

This one sounds hilarious.

Coming out in August - dystopian young adult novel.

Afterwards by Rosamund Lupton - One of Amazon's top books for April 2012 and my book review editor friend says reminiscent of The Lovely Bones.

MomAdvice said: This book was achingly beautiful. A story of a little girl afflicted with leprosy in the early 1900's. She overcomes it all and has a richer life than anyone could have ever dreamed.

Melissa Parcel I really like her writing style, very thoughtful and purposeful. I just finished her latest (releases in Feb 12) and I didn't like it as well as the previous books, but I did like it just because she's a great writer.

Nicole Scott It is good, and not as creepy as you might think. I mean, yes, initially creepy, but story is more than that.

Jennifer Klinedinst Young Ditto what Nicole said. I am usually wary to recommend it though. It's a tough subject, but brilliantly written.

March 2012 from B&H (by Michael Kelley) - about working through the difficulties of faith and throwing aside prescriptive spirituality.
