Sunny Fortino I took this to mean people making comments about every little thing that doesn't require a comment--for instance negative comments towards the appearance of a person just to be hurtful. The quote says "if it doesn't matter," I'd say that statement indicates this quote does not include things like Kony; nor is it the root of all the problems with the government...cause theoretically, those things "matter."

Carrie McEuen I agree with Lisa. Having beliefs doesn't correlate to religion. I do believe in a God, but I don't practice any religion. I still have beliefs. To say beliefs only belong to Christians or any religion is to say all agnostics/atheists/theists have no real meaning in life.

Janine Isabelle @Carrie McEuen I don' t think that's the case at all. I don't have anything I would quantify as a "belief". This is because I choose to base my life, choices, and moral code on facts rather than faith. You can't "believe" in a fact, because facts do not require faith. Someone once asked me if I "believed" in dinosaurs, a phrasing which I still find utterly hilarious. I also "believe" in the existence of the Model T Ford, in case you were wondering. That's the point I was trying to make earlier. Some secular people might still choose to use that vocabulary to describe themselves, but most of us find it counter-intuitive. That being said, the fact that I don't have any "beliefs" certainly doesn't mean that my life has no meaning. It just don't believe it has any HIGHER meaning beyond what the physical reality.
