I love the whole plane-on-plane action here. (Yes, I know that's not a plane on that plane. Sometimes I edit reality to ft better in with The Funny. But I really do love it.)
Pretty much. I love the Doctor, but I never said he wasn't an asshole. I've said before that I don't believe he and Rose had a happy ending (maybe eventually, but not before a fair amount of adjustment from both of them), but I also think he totally ditched himself there in a really assholey way. At least he doesn't discriminate.

Bonnie Ratliff Crowder And while a part of that action (of leaving his extra self behind) was a gift to himself and to Rose, it wasn't wholly without selfishness on his part. He was angry at himself all over again (on top of never having fully forgiven himself) and I believe he acted largely on that. And ultimately a lot of his asshole actions to ALL his companions are based in his need to protect himself from his own near-immortality. If he leaves them, he's still in control. He can also convince himself that he's "saving" them in whatever way he needs to. Must stop now. Srsly.
A nice compromise for the Doctor and Captain Jack.

And yet, if he'd only NOT been an asshole in the first place to Lily and then to Harry, more people might have liked him and the hard stuff would A) not have happened and B) not been on top of all the rest if it did.

Bonnie Ratliff Crowder To be clear for him, I feel both. I like Snape a lot and feel like he's quite tragic and sad, but he's also made some poor choices and has to live (um, or not) with them.
