Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
Body image, whole self-love, beauty and health and any size or age, THIS is a woman.
If someone decides they'd rather spend their time creating art, helping people, or simply being with their families instead of going to the gym every free minute they can find, who are you to judge them? Who are you to condemn them for not being what you consider an "acceptable size"? Who are you to assume they must be unhealthy? Love who you are.

FAT SHAME -- GREAT VIDEO! You know you don't have to be fat to be anti weight bigotry - just like you don't have to be gay to support gay rights; just like you don't have to be an oppressed minority to be against racism.

Miranda Harris I LOVE LACI.
"To me, Feminism means Choice! I can CHOOSE to shave my legs and can CHOOSE not to. There is no "right answer". One option doesn't make me any more or less of a feminist than the other. I can shave or not shave, whatever the hell I want to, because it's MY choice!" #feminism #bodyhair

Ashley House Oh man, those trees are bare I bet that water is cold!
"I feel so relieved to be at the stage I'm at in my life right now. Because you know if I want to wear my glasses I'm wearing my glasses. If I want to wear my hair back I'm pulling my hair back. You know at some point it's just not something that deserves a lot of time and attention. And if others want to worry about it, I let them do the worrying for a change."

greencardgirly Such an important piece of wisdom to figure out! I love it!
They all weigh 150lbs There is no ‘right’ body type. Weight looks different on different people, and it is ALL OKAY. Don’t compare yourself to other people’s bodies, learn to love the body you’re in NOW and what it can do NOW.

Fernanda Gomes Yes! Thank you - this is what I keep screaming at the TV whenever those weight loss diet aid & excercise equiptment commercials come on. Numbers without context do nothing except undermine self esteem.
Previous pinner: "Have you seen non-sexualized photos of normal breasts? A huge proportion of American women are not happy with their breasts. The media images make them believe the ideal is big and perky breasts with a small nipple and areola. But, in reality female breasts come in all kinds of sizes and shapes. These breast pictures are here to let you see normal breasts - big, small, sagging, asymmetrical; big areolas or nipples." <-- Have loved this site for years!

Sahara Anderson This is so true! I have some old childhood friends on here (twins actually) who post stuff like the top part of this on Pinterest all the time. I finally unfollowed them as I was sick of seeing it. I am one of those people who stays slender and gorges on fatty foods and calls my daily walk my exercise program. It's just my body. Thanks for what you do Bonnie! :)
There's not a single culture or place on Earth where people don't have a cuisine, and where gathering around the dinner table isn't a time-honored tradition. Few things are as universal as our love of good food. <-- Word.

Why did VIBE magazine feel the need to slenderize her hard-earned tennis champion-made body? For someone whose muscles have assisted in her becoming a record-breaking player (for both African-Americans and women), why would editors be ashamed or uncomfortable in displaying them as such? In all their award-winning glory?

bluesleepy Because, as horrible as this is, most people don't admit she's all muscle. Read enough comments on photos like this on the Daily Mail and you see that most people think she's "fat" or "thick" or "disgusting." It's a sad, sad thing, if you ask me.
Male feminism...you're doing it right.

Krista Lord I love this. One of the things i love about my husband too.
The "Courage to be Real" Campaign - about cracking the illusion of perfection that makes women hate our bodies and compete with each other. You can be a part of it by submitting "before & after" photos of yourself. Read more about the campaign by clicking through or by visiting beautyisinside.co...

greencardgirly Saw a big poster of diseases you supposedly get from being overweight at my OB's office this morning. With a Weight Watchers logo on it... :(
bluesleepy Grr that's angry-making, Sonja. Most of my friends who have weight issues cite their doctors as a huge part of their body-image problem. It IS possible to be heavy yet fit.
Bonnie Ratliff Crowder The weight watchers logo bit made my head explode.
Yara Aguilar My doctor told me to "try replacing meals with shakes" No, I never went back to that guy.
bluesleepy How is that even HEALTHY?!
"What if the next generation grows up knowing how normal our bodies are? How truly awesome would that be?" <-- I'm pinning TIAW to my TIAW board. Meta.

bluesleepy Hey! That's what I look like from the back. Except I have a tattoo. Haha.
Krista Lord Hmmm...the image is suddenly distorted...weird.
Shape of a Mother: The website's creator Bonnie Crowder says she wants to fight back against the pressure from celebrity mothers who get their figures back thanks to hours with their expensive personal trainer, or trips to their plastic surgeon. <--Except I didn't say exactly that. I don't want to alienate celeb moms. My response is here: theshapeofamother... (Click on the photo above to go to the Daily Mail article.)

Krista Lord I changed how I quoted you on my pin. :)
Grace Seim That website was enormously helpful to me after my son was born.
Bonnie Ratliff Crowder Thanks, Krista! I'm so glad, Grace! ♥
Brandi Bruce I've been reading your page for years. It's made such a difference in my life. Gave me self worth again. Made me like myself
How hard is this to understand people? I cannot believe that so men and women in America think that statements like this are wrong. <--I love that bit: "Women are not an interest group. They are mothers and daughters and sisters and wives."

bluesleepy Well, now that's refreshing to see -- a woman not afraid to reveal her stretch marks. Good on her!
Amanda Gauthier-Parker She looks amazing! I hope my body can recover as well from the next baby! (But I know I'm not going to work that hard...)
Ashley Judd’s 'puffy' appearance sparked a viral media frenzy. But, the actress writes, the conversation is really a misogynistic assault on all women. (This article is so well written. Way to go Ashley!)

Fetching pins…
Virginia in the Hudson Valley I love the core message here, but why do we have to get there by assuming any typically "hot" or "thin" woman isn't working on her legacy or hello
Virginia in the Hudson Valley Sorry pressed send too soon! Or helping others? When we pit one body type against the other, we aren't making progress. Just a thought.
Bonnie Ratliff Crowder Yeah, I felt weird about aspects of this pin, too. But I liked that it pointed out that there is value in all sorts of things, and I do believe it's right in saying that society assumes those who aren't of a certain fitness must be lazy when, in fact, they may not be by any measure.
Maggie Frances P. Virginia, I had the same exact issue with it. I felt it was pretty shaming which sucks because it had a good overal message. Just, why does it have to be at the expense of others?
